Introducing ‘Eufloria’ – That flower feeling

We’ve always known that getting flowers makes people feel amazing – but until now, there wasn’t a word for it. So, we did something about it. This Mother’s Day, we’ve teamed up with wordsmith Susie Dent to create a brand new word that sums up that warm, fuzzy, floaty feeling you get when you’re handed a beautiful bunch. Say hello to Eufloria.

Eufloria (n.): A riff on euphoria, describing the pure joy of receiving flowers.

It’s that little rush of happiness when the doorbell rings and a bouquet is waiting. That moment your heart lifts and the world feels a bit brighter. And it turns out, it’s a feeling most of us know well – with 85% of people saying they feel instantly happier after getting flowers, and 77% saying it even makes them nicer to their other half (now that’s flower power).

Created specially for Moonpig by Susie Dent – yep, the Queen of Countdown – the word Eufloria blends ‘eu’ (meaning ‘good’ or ‘abundant’) and ‘floria’ (a nod to Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers), perfectly capturing this blooming lovely emotion.

To mark the launch, we’ve even named a bouquet after it – a joyful arrangement made to spark smiles and spread a little Eufloria of its own. And with Mother's Day just around the corner, it's the perfect time to share the feeling.
