Love is well and truly in the air – but just how romantic are us Brits really? To find out, we put the nation to the test! How the UK spends Valentine’s Day
It turns out we’re a pretty romantic bunch. Over half (52%) of us celebrate Valentine’s Day with our partners – but it’s Gen Z who are leading the love parade. A whopping 76% of them go all in for the most romantic day of the year. And when it comes to planning the perfect date, they’re pulling out all the stops. Gen Z are far more likely to wine and dine their significant other (65% compared to the UK average of 38%) and even book a dreamy overnight stay (31% vs. the 16% UK average). But the real star of the show? The classic Valentine’s card. Nearly two thirds (64%) of Brits are on the hunt for the one – the perfect card that says it all. Lucky for them, we’ve got the best Valentine’s cards around — romantic, funny, and everything in between. Basically, love at first sight! And in Northern Ireland and the North East, love letters reign supreme, with 71% of romantics pouring their hearts onto paper. Meanwhile, Scotland and Wales are least likely to put pen to paper, with only 56% opting for handwritten declarations of love.
