#LoveStartsWithMum Mother's Day Blogger Event

Here at Moonpig, we can’t say enough about how much our mums do for us. From making the best roast dinners in town to being a shoulder to cry on – not to mention always rooting for us, even with our questionable fashion choices – it’s hard to cover everything. They're one of our family pillars and take care of everyone throughout the year, every year. It’s only right that they get a long overdue thank you when Mother’s Day arrives. 

As Mother’s Day is just around the corner, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to bring together a group of talented bloggers and their loved ones to enjoy an afternoon of creative crafts and plush pampering. Not too mention, a few exotic drinks and a hearty spread of food.

Our lovely guests joined us at our Farringdon HQ in London to get a sneak peek into what we're about, while also enjoying some leisurely afternoon activities.

Upon arrival, our guests were treated to a splendid gin cocktail (cheers to that). Then, one of our brand gurus told everyone a bit more about what gets us up and excited in the morning (delivering cards and smiles, of course) and dived into our new spring/summer messaging. Plus, they also got a sneak peek of our new Mother's Day ad.  Once we told them a bit more about us we jumped into the afternoon's festivities. 

Our first group was invited to make their own flower bouquet using stems from one of the gorgeous bunches from our website. After all, there’s no better way to perk up their day or show someone how much they mean to you than with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Led by our flower expert, Roxanne, our guests neatly took the bouquets from the box and were shown how to cut and care for them. Along with letting their creativity run wild, they were given some tips and tricks for how to make flowers last longer. If you plan on buying some flowers this Mother’s Day, remember not to keep them near the fruit bowl, as the chemicals from the fruit will make the flowers die quicker.

The second activity kicked off the boozy part of our afternoon and our guests took on a cocktail making class. Led by a team of cocktail experts from Mr. Flavour, they got the chance to try their hand at mixology and make their very own delicious drinks. The result? With the combination of experimentation and creativity, our guests made Electricitys, served in a lightbulb, Fun at the Fairs, served in a fun fair bag, and Iced Teas, served in a smoking tea pot. With dry ice at hand, it resulted in a magnificent table, full of colour, and shrouded in smoke. Finally, our guests tried their hand at photo card making. Each of our blogger-and-mother-duos had the opportunity to get creative in our fab photo booth and take their own pictures to create a Moonpig Mother’s Day card. After making the most of all the various props available, such as funky hats and witty signs, they used laptops to put these snaps onto a personalised card. With hands over their mums’ eyes, our bloggers crafted heartfelt messages and sent these cards home, just in time for Mother’s Day. We love it when a plan comes together...

Each and every one of our guests had the chance to try their hand at each activity throughout the day, making for a fun and varied day of crafting, socialising and making their loved ones feel special. The fun didn’t stop there, however, as we also got to share a delightful spot of afternoon tea with our guests. We couldn’t let empty stomachs effect the celebration and creativity filling the room, and what better way to make new friends than over a good spread. Once we had our fill of tea, sandwiches, scones and the last activity had drawn to a close, it was time to end our #LoveStartsWithMum event.

Since we don’t like guests leaving empty handed at Moonpig, we had a final trick up our sleeve in the form of a final parting gift. Inside our gorgeous goody bags were a whole host of Moonpig gifts, including a unicorn bath crumble, a mug, and a cocktail book – perfect for keeping the good times rolling as our guests made their way home. We just wanted to share how much fun we had hosting the event and would like to thank all of our lovely guests for sharing the day with us. We hope our event will help spread the celebration of Mother’s Day and show all the mother figures in our lives just how much they mean to us.
